Philippine Ports Authority Port Management Office Negros Oriental / Siquijor
Just a short walk from the scenic Rizal Boulevard and Silliman University sits the picturesque Port Operations Building or POB of the Port Management Office of Negros Oriental/Siquijor. Located at the Port of Dumaguete, Negros Oriental, is the futuristic 2-storey avant-garde building built by the Philippine Ports Authority at the helm of General Manager Jay Daniel R. Santiago, with the guidance of Department of Transportation headed by Secretary Arthur P. Tugade, under President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s Build, Build, Build Program. Spanning 3,082.5 sq. m., the new
On August 1, 1977, the Port Management Unit – Dumaguete took over the management and operations of the Port of Dumaguete from the Bureau of Customs. Just a year after that, the now demolished office building was constructed.
PMU Dumaguete was then changed to PMO Dumaguete. In 2015, through the PPA Rationalization Plan in GCG Memorandum Order 2014-10, the name PMO Dumaguete was renamed to PMO Negros Oriental/Siquijor. It has administrative jurisdiction over all government and private ports in the Provinces of Negros Oriental and Siquijor. By the year 2018, the 40-year-old composite construction building, made of concrete and timber, was not safe anymore.
